After three straight home games, the Florida State women’s basketball team (18-8, 7-4 ACC) will play two of its last three regular-season games on the road, beginning with the Virginia Cavaliers (15-11, 4-7 ACC) on Sunday, February 18th at 2 p.m. Tune in on www.seminoles.com to hear all of the action.
FSU has won the last three meetings with UVA, including a 63-47 victory back on January 28th in Tallahassee and not only was the victory the Seminoles’ third straight over the Cavaliers, for the first time in program history, but also the largest margin of victory at 16 points. Remember, FSU was 0-20 vs. Virginia until head coach Sue Semrau and the Seminoles earned the program’s first win in 2000-01. Including that win, FSU has now won seven games over the Cavs.
The Cavaliers are coming off a road win at rival Virginia Tech and have won three of the last four games. When UVA hosts the Seminoles, it will be the Cavs last home game of the regular season. The Seminoles have lost their last two games and with NC State’s win over North Carolina Friday, are in fifth place in the ACC while UVA is in eighth place in the league.
The Seminoles have two more tries to record their most ACC road wins in a single season. FSU is 4-1 on the road in the ACC and has secured a winning road league mark. Since joining the league in 1991-92, FSU has earned four ACC road victories five times, including the last three seasons but has never gotten to five road wins
