The Seminoles had their two-game winning streak snapped last Saturday with a 98-73 loss at No. 2 Duke. Junior college transfer Damous Anderson led FSU with the best game of his career, a 23-point, nine-rebound effort…Junior Ron Hale, Florida State’s leading scorer at 15.8 points per game, was held to six against Duke. It was just the second time in his last 13 games that he has been held to single digits…After averaging just 10.5 turnovers in their previous six games, the Seminoles had 18 at Duke. Florida State is being outrebounded by an average 1.0 per game (34.4-33.4) but that figure jumprs to 6.4 (37.2-30.8) in ACC contests.
The Demon Deacons have lost two in a row after falling 74-61 at Georgia Tech last Saturday. After opening the season with nine wins in its first 11 games, Wake has dropped four of its last six…Sophomore guard Robert O’Kelley leads the Demon Deacons in scoring at 15.7 points per game and had 14 at Georgia Tech. He is hitting 36.9 percent from three-point range (41-of-111)…Freshman forward Darius Songaila is the only other Wake Forest player averaging in double figures. He is scoring at a 12.5 clip and is coming off a 17-point game at Georgia Tech…Wake freshman Craig Dawson (7.9 ppg) is the nephew of former FSU star Tony Dawson, who scored 1,165 points (19.4 ppg) in two years as a Seminole (1987-89).
Wednesday’s game marks the 18th meeting between Florida State and Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons own a 9-8 advantage in the series, which dates back to Dec. 1, 1958…The two teams split the season series a year ago, with each team winning on its home floor. The Seminoles played one of their best games of the season in winning 83-59 in Tallahassee on Jan. 22. Wake returned the favor with a 69-68 thriller on Feb. 21 in Winston-Salem…Wake Forest is 8-7 against FSU since the Seminoles joined the league in 1991-92. Florida State is 5-2 against the Deacons in the Leon County Civic Center.
