Florida State University freshman Anthony Richardson, who scored his career-high of 19 points and grabbed six rebounds against NC State in the Seminoles’ only game last week, was named the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball Rookie of the Week. It is the first time Richardson has earned the honor.
Richardson enjoyed a special homecoming as he scored his career-high of 19 points, while grabbing six rebounds and blocking two shots in a career-high 29 minutes against NC State. Richardson established numerous career-high statistics in his first career return to his hometown of Raleigh, N.C. as he played in front of a throng of family and friends.
During the game, Richardson scored his career-high of 19 points, made his career-high of six field goals, made his career-high of five free throws on his career-high of six attempts (.833 free throw shooting percentage), tied his career-high of three offensive rebounds and grabbed six rebounds overall, made two of three shots from the 3-point arc (.667 3-point shooting percentage), blocked a career-high two shots and was credited with one assist.
Richardson was Florida State’s second leading scorer and second leading rebounder while leading the team in blocks for the first time this season against NC State.
Richardson is currently ranked fourth on the team in scoring (9.5 ppg), second on the team in 3-point shots made (18) and 3-point field goal percentage (.360) and is tied for third in rebounding (4.2 rpg). He is first among the ACC’s freshman in 3-point shots made per game (1.42).
