TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team was named to their 12th straight NCAA tournament appearance on Tuesday. The No. 30 Seminoles (18-11) travel to the Gainesville region and take on No. 22 USF (18-6) on Saturday, May 10th. Host school Florida (15-9) received the No. 14 seed of the tournament and faces St. John’s (NY) (16-7).
“It’s a good opportunity down there,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “I was actually pretty surprised on the draw. They’ve kept teams that we’re real familiar with together. We played both USF and Florida this year and we also play in a region where we play them in the fall as well. We’re going to be very knowledgeable on both teams. We look forward to the opportunity to go down there and complete. We have a battle against South Florida in the first round.”
Florida State is very familiar with USF having defeated them 4-3 earlier this season on March 1. The Seminoles came from behind after dropping the doubles point and the first singles match. Senior Blake Davis, junior Cristian Gonzalez Mendez, sophomore Marco Nunez and freshman Grayson Goldin all gained singles wins.
The Seminole also played Florida this season where the Gators won 4-2.
