IOWA CITY, Iowa- Senior Landon Marzullo led the Florida State divers with a seventh-place finish on the one-meter at the U.S. Winter National Championships in Iowa City, Iowa.
“I think this has been a great competition for our kids,” diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. “Landon dove pretty well and I think this will provide him confidence moving forward into the rest of the conference season.”
Marzullo earned a six dive total of 369.75 to earn the highest finish of the meet for the Seminoles. On the three-meter, freshman Thomas Neubacher clinched the last berth in the finals placing 12th (716.30). His brother Michael advanced to the semifinals finishing 18th. Michael Neubacher and Marzullo also qualified for the platform semifinals with 12th and 14th-place finishes respectively.
“I’m really pleased with the way Thomas dove,” Jeffrey said. “This will be great experience for him going forward.”
Thomas Neubacher will compete in the three-meter final on Saturday, while the brothers will team together on the men’s synchronized platform final. Marzullo and senior Joradan Horsley will team up in the finals of the three-meter synchronized event on Saturday as well.
For the women, senior Jaq Horner made the semifinals of the platform competition placing 18th. Junior Lisi Rowland was the highest finisher on the one-meter taking home 17th (225.60). Senior Katherine Adham placed 24th on the three-meter.
