Tallahassee, Fla. – Florida State head coach Dwayne Hultquist and the men’s tennis program added a pair of athletes to the 2016-17 class, bringing the total haul to four for next season. All four are expected to begin school in the fall. France’s Lucas Poullain and Norway’s Rana-Roop Singh Bhullar join the November signings of Alex Knaff of Luxembourg and Guy Orly Iradukunda, a transfer from Seminole State College.
Poullain is the top French recruit from this class. With multiple wins over ATP Top 300 players, Poullain reached the semifinals of the World University Games in 2015. His career high ATP ranking is 1298 in singles, while his career high in doubles is 949.
Poullain’s 14.46 Universal Tennis Ranking, a composite that includes all matches a player has completed, ranks him 16th among current college players and third in the ACC.
Bhullar is Norway’s No. 2 recruit and fifth-ranked player overall in Norway. He is a three-time national doubles champion and a two-time national singles runner-up. He won 20 total junior championships in Norway and is training with the Norwegian Federation with the country’s best up-and-coming players.
Poullain and Bhullar join the previously announced signings of Knaff and Iradukunda. Knaff is the reigning Nature Element ITF Luxembourg Junior Open champion, while Iradukunda is the top-ranked JUCO player in the country at Seminole State College in Seminole, Oklahoma, and was the National Rookie of the Year in 2014-15.
