TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Von Wafer hit six of his first seven 3-point
attempts and finished with 20 points Sunday to lead Florida State to an 82-69
upset over Florida.
Florida State (8-6) led 45-32 at halftime with a 10-0 run over the final 47
seconds, sparked by Thornton.
Thornton and Alexander Johnson each had nine rebounds and Waleskowski
grabbed eight as the Seminoles finished with a 44-20 advantage on the boards,
16-5 on the offensive end.
Florida (8-3) shot poorly from the free throw line in the first half, making
only two of its first nine and then was unable to get back into the game in the
second half, trailing on two occasions by as many as 19 points.
The Gators did close within 69-60 on a layup by Anthony Roberson, who had 22
points. Lee Humphrey added 15 for the Gators.
Florida State shot 51 percent for the game, including 60 percent from
3-point range, while Florida hit 46 percent, including 41.7 percent from beyond
