Seminoles To Play Tomorrow In Men’s Tennis Doubles Competition

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Seminoles were on top of their
doubles game today. With one tandem in the finals and one in semifinals
competition, which will be played Sunday morning.

In Singles flight A freshman Jarrod Owens defeated Tony Mule of
UNC-Greensboro in straight sets to advance to the semifinals. In semifinals
play Owens faced No-3 seed Estevan Strecker of Auburn. Strecker, however,
defeated Owens 6-3, 6-1. Freshman Alex Herrera faced No-2 seed Nico
Sablowski of Auburn in the quarterfinals and was defeated 6-4, 2-6, 2-6.

In
Singles flight B Noah Schnells winning streak came to an end when he fell to
Marcio Torres of UNC-Greensboro 4-6, 7-5, 4-6. In singles flight C freshman
Elliot Elias competed against James Moysey in the quarterfinals match. Elias
fought the whole way but fell to Moysey 6-2, 6-4. In Singles flight A
Consolation Laub faced and fell to David Olave of Val-St. 2-6, 6-1, 6-4.
Romain Jurd lost to Brahm Tukker in his quarterfinals match 0-6, 6-2, 6-0.

In B Consolation singles Chad Mooney was defeated by Brandon Nicholson of LSU
in the round of 16 play. Joe Basset faced Benjamin Stewart of Auburn in the
quarterfinals round today, unfortunately Basset fell
to Stewart 2-6, 1-6.

In singles flight C Consolation quarterfinals,
freshman Reid McCree went head to head with M. Rowles of UNC-G. The two
played a great match, with Rowles coming out on top, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

In A Doubles competition Schnell and Jeff Scarella competed in the
quarterfinals match against the tandem from LSU, Anthony Mateljon and Brandon
Nicholson. Mateljon and Nicholson defeated the Seminole team 8-3. Rodrigo
Laub and Alex Herrera also competed today in the A doubles quarterfinals
match against Jesse Smatt and Bryan Fisher of LSU, once again the Noles were
close but fell to the LSU team.

In A Doubles Consolation Florida States
Chad Mooney and Joe Basset faced Andre Boz and Julian Coratella of Auburn,
the Noles won by default and will face Marcio Torres and Tony Mule of UNC-G
tomorrow in semifinals competition. Owen and Jurd faced and defeated Damir
Krimer and Claran Moore of Bethune Cookman 8-4. Owen and Jurd then went on
to face and defeat William Guerin and Augusto Sanabria of UCF to push the
Seminole tandem into the finals.

In B doubles Consolation Elias and McCree
received a quarterfinals bye and faced and fell to Hadden and Mitten of
UNC-G.in the semifinals match 8-1.

Finals competition will begin Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
