TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –With the Texas Invitational title already under its belt, the Florida State softball team returns to Tallahassee to face cross-town rival Florida A&M at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 11. The Seminoles lead the all-time series, 95-7, and are currently on an 11-game winning streak against FAMU.
Following the 4-1 weekend, senior starting catcher Kaleigh Rafter earned the first Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honor after going 10-for-18, including two doubles and a home run.
The big weekend also brought five votes for the Noles in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 weekly poll. It’s the first time since the 2007 season that FSU has received votes in the poll.
Florida State hosts its first of three home tournaments. The Sunshine Classic, beginning Friday the 13th with a 10:00 a.m. match-up between Purdue and Miami (Ohio) University. The Seminoles play in their home turf for the first time against Appalachian State on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
Seminole Softball’s Fan Day is Saturday, Feb. 14, and the first 200 fans in attendance to the 2:30 p.m. FSU vs. Miami (Ohio) University game will receive a FREE garnet and gold shaker. There will also be a post-game autograph session immediately following the game with the entire Seminole softball team.
