Sestilio Shoots 70 To Lead Seminole Men’s Golf Team at Carpet Capital Collegiate

ROCKY FACE, Ga. –
Florida State senior Mark Sestilio tied his career-low for a single round with a 70 and the Seminole men’s golf team improved their team score by 17 strokes in the second round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate at the Farm Golf Course. Sestilio improved his score by 19 strokes in the second round as compared to the first round – the largest improvement of the 90 golfers in the event over the course of the second 18 holes. The Seminoles’ 17-stroke team improvement was also the best of the 18 teams in the event as the finished the round with a 302 team total.

No. 3 ranked Georgia continued to hold the team lead and begins final round play with a six stroke lead over No. 17 Wake Forest. The Bulldogs increased their lead from five strokes after the first round to six strokes after the second round. Georgia Tech is in third place – eight strokes behind Georgia and two behind Wake Forest. Luke List of Vanderbilt moved into first place in the individual standings as he carded a three-under par 69 in the second round. He holds a one shot lead over David Denham of Georgia.

Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.) shot his career-best tying round as he improved his score by 19 strokes in the second round as compared to the first round. He also improved his individual standing by 19 positions and is in a tie for 71st place heading into the third and final round. It marked the third time during his career that he had shot a70; he also shot a 70 in the second round of the spring 2003 Seminole Intercollegiate and the second round of the fall 2003 Gary Koch Intercollegiate.

Seminole freshman Song Jeon (Seoul, Korea) tied his career best with a three-over par 75. He is in a tie for 56th place with a two-day total of 155. Joen is competing in only his second career event and improved his second round score by five strokes as compared to his first round score.

Sophomore Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ky.) also shot a 75 in the second round to mark the team-high tying eighth time this fall that he had shot a 75 or better. He is tied for the team lead in that category with senior Matt Adcock and freshman Jonas Blixt. Ruch is the Seminoles’ individual leader with a 152 total for the first 36 holes.

Sunday’s final round begins with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
