Seven Seminoles Named to the 2006 All-ACC Academic Men’s Swimming and Diving Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Seven Florida State student-athletes were named to the inaugural All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Men’s Swimming and Diving Team, as announced by Commissioner John D. Swofford. The Seminoles tied Georgia Tech and North Carolina for the most student-athletes named to the team.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

FSU’s seven members are senior Peter Crane (Fairport, N.Y.), juniors Paul Erben (Panama City, Fla.), Alex Kennon (Winter Haven, Fla.) and Steve Roof (Canton, Ohio), sophomores Michael Rice (North Miami, Fla.) and Kyle Young (Oviedo, Fla.) and freshman Scott Derner (Grapevine, Texas).

Erben, Kennon and Young earned All-ACC team honors while Kennon, Roof, Young and Derner all qualified for the NCAA National Championships. Roof and Kennon earned Honorable Mention All-American honors at nationals.
