Shannon O’Neil is in her second year of experience with the Florida State athletic department. O’Neil first joined the sports information team in the fall of 2006 as an undergraduate student intern. After two semesters in the internship program, O’Neil became a graduate assistant in July of 2007.
As the sports information representative for track & field, cross country and women’s tennis, O’Neil handles the media interaction with eight coaches and nearly 150 athletes on a daily basis. In addition, O’Neil contributes to the sports information office through graphic design projects including post-season media guides and credentials. She is also a member of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
O’Neil is a native of St. Augustine, Fla. She graduated from Florida State University in April of 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in public relations. At present, O’Neil is continuing her education with a master’s degree in sports administration, also from Florida State. She is the daughter of Tom and Cindy O’Neil and has two siblings, Carla McGarva and Patrick Robertson.
