TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – After contributing to a NJCAA National Championship with Tyler Junior College, incoming sophomore Kerrie Cartwright earned a spot on the 2012 ITA All-Star Team. Cartwright was the lone representative from the NJCAA division.
The ITA All-Star Team is composed of the nation’s top-ranked men’s and women’s tennis players from the season ending Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels. Cartwright was selected as the No.1 NJCAA player at the end of the 2012 season after winning the NJCAA singles and doubles titles.
“We are so excited that a future Seminole is being recognized at the highest level nationally,” head coach Jennifer Hyde said. “We are happy for her and the opportunity she has created for herself. She will be among the best of the best in college tennis when the ITA and USTA fly her up to New York to take part in the festivities leading up to the US Open. I know she was caught off guard with this recognition, but she has earned it. This will be an experience of a lifetime, and I’m so glad Kerrie will experience it before she gets to Tallahassee. ”
All ITA All-Star Team members earned a trip to New York, N.Y. where they will be recognized on the weekend of August 25, 2011 during the US Open.
