AUBURN, Ala. –
The Florida State University women’s golf team wrapped up play in its fall season as it finished play in 16th place in the team standings at the Auburn Tiger-Derby at the Auburn University Club. The Seminoles were led by Macarena Silva who finished in a tie for 36th place in the individual standings to mark the first time in her career that she had finished at the top of the Seminoles’ leader board in a tournament.

Arizona State won the team championship as it posted a 12 stroke victory over Virginia. The Sun Devils were led by Anna Nordqvist who shot a nine-under par 207 for the 54-hole tournament. She was under par in each of the three rounds to earn the victory.

Silva (Santiago, Chile) carded her best single round score of the tournament – a 76 – in the third and final round of the tournament. She carded back-to-back scores of 78 in the first and second rounds of the tournament. Silva was playing in her first tournament as a Seminole since representing Chile in the World Amateur Team Championship in Australia earlier this month.

In addition to Silva’s score of 76 in the final round, the Seminoles also counted scores of 76 by Hannah Thomson, 80 by Whitney Wenglasz and 85 by Lauren Cousart. Florida State’s three time All-American Caroline Westrup withdrew from the event because of an illness.

Florida State opens its spring schedule at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic Feb. 8-10 in Rio Grande Puerto Rico.
