What is the best part of playing softball?

The best thing is feeling like you are a part of something. The relationship with your teammates is something special. It’s a lot of fun.

What is your earliest softball memory?

I remember the first time ever slid head first into third. Does that count?

Tell me what it felt like to get the first start of your career last week?

It was really exciting and I was obviously happy. I wish I would have executed a little better but it was a great experience. I felt very good about it.

What is the one thing you want people to know about you?

I work really hard. I never had anything handed to me no matter who my dad is. I am a very independent person and I have to work hard for everything. People sometimes make assumptions with out knowing a person and those assumptions aren’t usually accurate.

What is the best advice concerning the game that you ever received?

Softball is a game so just have fun.

What do you do for fun?

I love to shop and hang out with my friends. Ooh, and play with my dog.

Tell me about your dog.

She is five months old. She’s a Weimaraner. She snuggles with me at night but she can get pretty hyper. Her name is sterling because of her silver color.

What is your bat song and why did you choose it?

It is AC/DC “Shook Me All Night Long”. I chose it back in high school as a freshman. Everyone choose rap songs but I wanted a classic rock song.

Do you prefer a night in or a night out?

It depends on my mood. Lately, it’s been more of a night in.

What is your favorite pig out food?

Chips and salsa.

If you could compete in the Olympics, what sport would you choose besides softball?

Skeleton. I like it because you get to go really fast and there is a lot of risk involved.

Who do you admire most and why?

My parents. They have always been there for me and they never made any choices for me. They never made me play sports or anything. They always gave me the opportunity and then it was up to me to make the decision. They trusted me enough to do make my own decisions.

What do you miss most about Atlanta besides your family?

I miss my friends but I also miss everything the city has to offer. I love it there and it is where I want to live for the rest of my life.

What was the most unexpected thing about your first year of college?

Realizing that I am growing up and becoming responsible. That was kind of a shocker.

Who is your favorite athlete?

Javier Lopez. He is sexy.

Favorite movie?

“Dangerous Beauty”

Did having a major league manager as a father help you as a player?

When I played in high school, people used to try to get to me by saying “If you are Bobby Cox’s daughter, why aren’t you better”? Once I singled up the middle and an umpire told me that wasn’t good enough. So there was some pressure on me. He is a great resource. He never offers advice unless I ask. I could strike out every game and he would still be there to support me.

What do you want to accomplish in your life?

Graduating!!!!
