Florida State junior linebacker Terrance Smith was named the Chuck Bednarik Award Player of the Week following his 11-tackle performance in the Seminoles’ 31-27 win over Notre Dame.
Smith’s 11 stops were a game-high, and he also posted two tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
Smith, who leads the Atlantic Coast Conference with 10.2 tackles per game, also garnered ACC Linebacker of the Week honors for his efforts.
A native of Decatur, Ga., Smith has started six games this season and leads the No. 2 Seminoles in tackles (61) and forced fumbles (2).
The Chuck Bednarik Award is presented annually to college football’s Defensive Player of the Year.
