TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State’s Tiffany McCarty and Ines Jaurena added to their list of preseason honors in 2012 as the senior duo was named Preseason All-Americans by Soccer America.

The accolades came just days after both Seminoles were named to the Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

McCarty is coming off a 2011 season in which she led the team in points (42), goals (18), shots (80) and game-winning goals (4), while sitting tied for second in assists (6). A two-time first-team All-ACC selection and two-time All-American, the Laurel, Md., native started all 26 games for the Seminoles at the forward position last year. McCarty enters her senior season as FSU’s all-time career leader in points (111), goals (46) and shots (220).

Jaurena started all 26 games for FSU as a junior in 2011 and has started in 71 of 72 games since arriving on campus back in 2009. She has been a prominent player in the Seminole backline the last three years, while helping FSU to 12 shutouts a season ago. Last year, Jaurena set season-highs for points (11) and goals (4), while three of her four goals were game-winners. Jaurena earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2011.

McCarty, Jaurena and the rest of the Seminoles will kick-off the 2012 season Friday night, August 17, in Minneapolis against Minnesota.
