TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Fifth-ranked Florida State faces two big tests at home this weekend as the Seminoles welcome 10th-ranked Penn State (2-1-0) and Washington State (2-1-0) on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Friday’s match marks just the third meeting between Florida State and Penn State and second on the Seminoles home turf. FSU evened the all-time series at a game apiece last year downing PSU 4-1 in University Park. The Nittany Lions defeated the Seminoles 2-1 in Tallahassee back in 2003.

On Sunday, Florida State and Washington State will square-off for the first time as both schools advanced to the NCAA Tournament a season ago.

Series Record: Series tied 1-1-0

* FSU is 3-2 all-time against schools from the Big Ten having faced Illinois (2-0), Ohio State (0-1) and Penn State (1-1). Under head coach Mark Krikorian, FSU is 3-0 posting wins over Illinois in back-to-back seasons in the NCAA Tournament (2005 & 2006) and against PSU last year.

* Penn State is the only school from the state of Pennsylvania that Florida State has faced in this the 15th season of Seminole soccer.

* Current Seminole Team Manager Jean Rettig began her college career at Penn State in 2003. She played in 62 games and was part of five Big Ten regular season championships.

* After the game, kids are encouraged to stick around for a free Youth Clinic sponsored by the FSU Soccer Team.

* FSU is 9-3-1 all-time against schools from the Pac-10 having faced Arizona State (2-0), California (2-0), UCLA (0-1), Oregon (2-0), Oregon State (1-0-1) and Southern Cal (2-2). Under Krikorian, FSU is 4-1-0 with victories over Arizona State, Cal and Southern Cal.

* The Noles are 7-1-1 against Pac-10 team during the regular season including a record of 3-1-1 inside the friendly confines of the Seminole Soccer Complex.

* Washington State marks the first school from the state of Washington that Florida State has faced. Freshman Tiana Brockway is the only Seminole with Washington ties growing up more than four hours to the west in Tacoma attending Stadium High School.
