TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 21-ranked Florida State softball team
improved to 10-1 on the season with a 4-2, nine-inning victory over
crosstown rival Florida A&M this evening. FAMU falls to an even 7-7 on the
The Rattlerettes outhit the Lady Seminoles 11-7, thanks to Kim Browning’s
3-for-4 effort, but left 12 batters stranded on the basepaths. Florida
State’s Jesse McGregor went 2-for-4 and scored the winning run off of a
Tami Post single in the ninth inning. There was an error on the play,
allowing Danielle Cox to score, giving FSU the two-run advantage. In the
FAMU ninth, ShaKaye Peters fouled out to the catcher to end the game, with
two players on base, including Browning, who had been intentionally walked.
Freshman ace Jennifer White came in relief to earn the victory, improving
her record to 5-1. FAMU’s Amber Alford went the distance. She is now 7-2.
