TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 17-ranked Florida State softball team won
its 9th and 10th straight games this evening with a 6-4, 9-0 sweep over
Connecticut at Lady Seminole Field. FSU is now 30-12 overall while UConn
falls to 4-8 on the season.
The Lady Seminoles, who scored first in both games, overcame a two-run
deficit in game one to earn the victory. Trailing 2-4, FSU rallied for
four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Misty Molin’s single brought home
one run while Jesse McGregor’s triple to right field scored two more runs.
A walk to Dana Bailey scored the fourth run. Freshman Jennifer White
picked up her 21st victory with the FSU win. FSU scored in four of five
innings played in game two, before the contest was called in the fifth due
to the eight-run rule. FSU outhit UConn 8-3 in the game. UConn committed
three errors in the fourth inning, contributing to FSU scoring four
unearned runs. Molin doubled in two of the runs. Kristy Hull’s double in
the bottom of the fifth brought home the winning run. Stacy Venable
improved to 7-4 with the decision.
Florida State will host ACC-foe North Carolina on Thursday in a
doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m.
