CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Lady Seminoles went 0-2 in the first day of the
Tar Heel
Invitational in Chapel Hill, NC. The Lady Seminoles lost their first
game of the day to Florida Atlantic, 1-0
and fell to Southern Mississippi 1-0.




Florida Atlantic took the 1-0 lead in the fourth inning of game one
and kept the lead. The Lady
Seminoles had four hits, including a double from Tami Post and a 1-2
performance from from Dana Bailey.
Danielle Cox added a stolen base and Stacy Venable (8-1) took the loss
for the pitching squad, striking
out a season high eight batters and gave up two hits.




In the second game of the day, Southern Mississippi took a 1-0 lead
off a double in the first inning
to score the winning run. Andi Lyons led the Lady Seminoles going 2-3
from the plate with a double. Cox added
two stolen bases and Jen White took the loss with six strikeouts and
gave up three hits.




Florida State stands at 30-24-1 on the season. The Lady Seminoles will
conclude their road trip with
a game with Florida International at 11:30am and a match-up with North
Carolina at 1:30pm on Sunday.
