Softball Falls To No. 12 Cal

Feb. 11, 2000

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Lady Seminole softball team dropped its first game of
the season with a 1-0 loss to #12 Cal-Berkeley in the first game of the
Seminole Classic. FSU drops to 3-1 as the Golden Bears improve to 4-0.

“We played a good game tonight,” Head Coach JoAnne Graf said. “We did a
really good job at getting people on base but just couldn’t get one across
the plate. Jen (White-Stokes) pitched a good game. I feel really good about
how we played them this early in the season.”

The lone run for the game came in the second inning when Berkeley’s
Courtney Scott hit a homerun over the leftfield wall. Catcher Andi Lyons and
DH Kelly Miller led the team going 1-2 with Lyons and shortstop Natalie
Bennett teaming up to catch Jocelyn Forsest stealing second base.
White-Stokes gave up one run, six hits and struck out one batter.

Florida State will take on Florida Atlantic at Noon on Saturday followed by
a matchup with Florida A&M at 2:00pm. The later games for the Seminole
Classic will be Cal against Florida Atlantic at 4:00pm with the
Golden Bears taking on Florida A&M at 6:00pm.
