TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 17th-ranked Florida State softball team
have now made it six straight with three more wins today in the Tallahassee
Democrat Florida State Invitational. With the wins, FSU improves to 26-12
and advances to the semifinals of the tournament. The Tribe will face Ole
Miss at 10 a.m. tomorrow while other semifinalists UMass and Michigan State
will square off at Noon. The championship game is set for 2 p.m. All of
tomorrow’s action is at Lady Seminole Field.
Three different Florida State pitchers earned wins in today’s action.
Corrie Williams (2-1) recorded a 4-1 win over Robert Morris in the early
game while junior Stacy Venable improved to 6-4 with FSU’s 3-0 victory over
Penn State. Freshman Jennifer White improved to 18-7 on the season with
FSU’s 11-4 decision over Central Michigan.
White also continues to contribute at the plate, driving in four runs on
the day. Senior Kristy Hull also had a big day, recording five hits,
scoring four runs and driving in another. FSU never trailed in today’s
action, but went into the seventh inning of the Central Michigan game tied
up at 4-4. A seven-run, seventh inning darted the Tribe to the 11-4
