Softball Sweeps ACC and SAA Weekly Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State softball swept the weekly honors
for the Southern Atlantic Alliance and Atlantic Coast Conference after
posting a 4-0 record last week. Kimmy Carter was named Player of the Week
as Stacy Venable took Pitcher of the Week honors.

Carter, a freshman from West Palm Beach, Florida, recorded five
RBI’s while going 6-15 last week (.400), two triples and three runs. The
right fielder leads the team and the ACC in triples with five and is third
on the team with 19 RBI’s this season. She has appeared in 46 games,
primarily in the outfield, and is on a five game hitting streak.

The senior pitcher from Choctaw, OK, Venable nabbed the Pitcher of
the Week honors after a 2-0 record last week, including a complete game in
the 2-1 win over #24 South Florida. She had five strikeouts and gave up
only one earned run in two appearances and leads the ACC in victories with
a 12-1 record while taking the second spot in ERA. Venable leads the team
with a 1.15 ERA and has struck out 63 batters.

Carter and Venable join Jen White and Danielle Cox in the Pitcher
and Player of the Week honors for this season.
