The No. 16-ranked Florida State softball team improved to 42-13 overall and 4-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 3-2 and 4-1 sweep over Georgia Tech this afternoon at Lady Seminole Field. Georgia Tech falls to 16-24 overall and 0-6 in league play.

FSU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one and didn’t score again until the fifth inning to take a 2-0 advantage. Georgia Tech came back in the top of the seventh to tie the game, scoring two runs off of three hits. The Tribe escaped extra innings as Danielle Cox led off the seventh with a single, stole second and was driven in on a single by Kristy Hull. Cox was two-for-three and scored two runs in the contest. Corrie Williams earned the victory and improved to 4-1

In the second game, designated hitter Jennifer Brown went two-for-three and had two RBIs to lead the team. A three-inning fifth sparked FSU to the 4-1 victory. Christy Cerecedes and Corrie Williams led off the inning with walks. An out later, Cerecedes scored on a Jesse McGregor single and both Williams and McGregor scored on Brown’s double to right field. Stacy Venable struck out five and allowed just three hits and improved to 12-5.
