TALLAHASSEE, FL — The Florida State softball team will travel to Auburn, Alabama for a double-header on Tuesday, February 23 with the Auburn Tigers. The first game will start at 2:00pm EST at the Auburn Tigers Softball Complex.
The Lady Seminoles did a clean sweep of Mercer on Friday as they took both games, 9-0 and 10-0. Danielle Cox led the way for FSU, going 4-6 from the plate with a three-run homer in the first game and four stolen bases. Andi Lyons, Kelly Miller and Jesse McGregor all added doubles and Tami Post had a triple. Jen White started the pitching in the first game, allowing only one hit and had seven strikeouts. Leslie Malerich pitched the second game, giving up only one hit and had three strikeouts. Stacy Venable finished each game, pitching two innings total and throwing two strikeouts.
Cox leads the starters, batting .457 and racking up 12 stolen bases. Dana Bailey, who broke into the record books this weekend with her 41st career steal, has 11 hits, a triple and seven steals on the season. Becky Wallace leads the team in batting with her .500 batting average and Christy Cerecedes leads in RBI’s with six.
The Lady Seminoles are 5-5 going into the games on Tuesday.
