Softball Unable To Continue At Kia Due To Unchangeable Travel Plans

March 21, 2004

Fullerton, CA –
After the third-ranked Seminole softball team beat Cal State Fullerton 3-0 Saturday night to move into the Kia Klassic semifinals, head coach Dr. JoAnne Graf immediately got on the phone. She wasn’t calling to let anybody know the good news, she was doing everything she could to extend FSU’s stay in Fullerton but due to unchangeable travel plans, FSU will be unable to play in the Kia Klassic semifinals.

“My main goal is to make sure our student-athletes miss as little school as possible so we originally made a flight that would allow them to make it to class Monday,” said Graf. “I knew if we advanced to championship play that we would reschedule the flight. After spending all night on the phone, unfortunately there was no alternative but to leave on our originally scheduled flight. It is disappointing to all of us because we wanted to play for the title but the circumstances were out of our control.”

Florida State returns to action this Thursday, March 25 versus FIU at the Seminole Softball Complex. The doubleheader is slated to start at 5:00 p.m. For more information please log on to www.seminoles.com.
