TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Freshman pitcher Jennifer White earned Most
Valuable Player honors as the Florida State softball team went a perfect
8-0 this weekend and earned the Tallahassee Democrat Florida State
Invitational championship title. FSU defeated Mississippi 4-2 in the
semifinals and downed UMass 1-0 in the championship contest today at Lady
Seminole Field. The title was FSU’s eighth Invitational title and first
White, who went 5-0 for the tournament and led the team with six RBI’s,
earned both victories today. She is now 20-7 on the season while FSU
improves to 28-12. Joining White on the All-Tournament team are Dana
Bailey and Kristy Hull.
The Tribe will host UConn in a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 5:30
p.m. at Lady Seminole Field.
