JUNIOR (2017):

Was FSU’s opening day starter before moving into the closer role…finished his junior season with a 5-4 record and 2.17 earned run average in 36 appearances, tied with teammate Alec Byrd for the most appearances in the ACC and sixth-most nationally…tallied seven saves on the year, including against Cal State Fullerton in the College World Series…seven saves ranked sixth in the ACC…secured a pair of wins in the postseason, in an elimination game against Auburn and the first game of the Super Regional against Sam Houston State…was perfect in his first two save opportunities, at Jacksonville and UCF, going 2.0 innings in both…drafted in the 32nd Round (965 overall) of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers…finished his FSU career with a 3.48 earned run average, an 18-12 record and 194 strikeouts over 227.1 innings pitched…made 30 starts and 71 total appearances in his career.

SOPHOMORE (2016):

 Led the Seminoles in games started by a pitcher (17-tied with Cole Sands)…led the team in wins (8), innings pitched (93.2), and batters struck out looking (31)…delivered one of the most impressive pitching performances in Florida State history with a complete game shutout and two-hitter in a 3-0 victory over in-state rival and No. 1-ranked Florida while throwing a season-high 115 pitches and giving the Seminoles an edge in Game 1 of the NCAA Gainesville Super Regional, earning him national attention…ended his sophomore season with a 3.94 ERA and an 8-3 record while also having recorded 76 strikeouts…in his first outing of the season, he pitched five full innings, only allowing one run (unearned) on five hits and striking out six, earning him his first win of the year…pitched seven strong innings against St. John’s on March 5, only surrendering one earned run…led the Seminoles to an 11-2 victory over ACC-foe Clemson after pitching 7.1 innings and giving up two runs, earning him his third quality start of the season…on May 7, he achieved a season-high strikeout record, as he punched out 9 in six shutout innings against Bowling Green State…named to the All-ACC Academic Team…placed on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

 

FRESHMAN (2015):

Finished his freshman season 5-5 with a 4.04 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 71.1 innings pitched…was 2-0 in two postseason appearances, striking out 13 in 13.2 innings without allowing a run against Louisville (May 23) in the ACC Tournament and against College of Charleston (June 1) in the NCAA Regionals…held batters to a .208 average with runners on base…opened his FSU career with four consecutive relief appearances, allowing just two runs in 8.1 innings before his first start against USF (March 3)…against the Bulls, struck out five in five innings and did not allow a run while notching the first win of his Seminole tenure…his last 11 appearances were all starts…set a career-high with nine strikeouts against Virginia Tech (March 28), and tied that mark in his final appearance against College of Charleston in the NCAA Regional…allowed zero earned runs in five starts, including the final two in the postseason…was named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament Team for his performance in the regional championship game.

 

HIGH SCHOOL:

Graduated from George Jenkins High School in Lakeland…named First Team All-Polk County final three years of high school…finished his final two years at Jenkins with 142 strikeouts over 118.2 innings pitched and a 12-5 record, including 9-1 as a junior before signing with Florida State in November 2013…had an ERA under 1.20 each of his final three years of high school…named a Perfect Game Underclass Second Team All-American in 2013 and honorable mention in 2012…garnered a national ranking of 173 by Perfect Game…graduated high school with 4.32 GPA and received the Distinguished Athlete Award from the United States Marine Corps.

 

PERSONAL:

Son of Richard and Michelle Carlton…has one brother, Jake…majoring in economics…born on September 8, 1995.
