SENIOR (2018):

Played the best baseball of his Florida State career, hitting .261 with 46 hits, 13 doubles, seven home runs and one triple…added 51 walks and had an on-base percentage of .448…played a pivotal role in head coach Mike Martin’s record-setting 1,976th win, hitting a 13th-inning lead-off home run to give FSU a 3-2 lead at No. 9 Clemson and catching the final out in the bottom of the inning…hit a walk-off home run in the 11th inning against No. 4 NC State, giving FSU a 4-3 victory…earned ACC and National Player of the Week honors after hitting 14-for-17 (.824) with two home runs, two doubles, six walks, seven RBI, 11 runs scored and a 1.294 slugging percentage over five games against Stetson and Boston College…hit home runs in three straight games, the first Seminole since Dylan Busby in 2016 to do so…also had three or more hits in three straight games…reached via a hit, walk or error in 20 consecutive plate appearances to start the week and set an FSU with hits in 12 straight official at-bats…Wells set career-highs with four hits against Stetson (4/18) and Boston College (4/21)…Wells set a career high with four runs scored against the Eagles (4/21 at Fenway Park)…started 58 games in 2018, including 27 straight to end the season…appeared in 61 of 62 games on the season…reached base safely in 15 straight games to end his career, the longest streak of his career…hit at least one home run in all four seasons at FSU…led FSU with six outfield assists, including one in the season finale against Mississippi State.

JUNIOR (2017):

Played in 35 games and started in 10 of the 2017 season…collected 11 hits, eight RBI, and seven runs in his 51 at-bats…made six pitching appearances in which he garnered a 2.70 ERA with his three and one-third innings pitched…entered right field in the ninth inning of the opener of the ACC Tournament, and in the 11th inning, made a perfect throw to catcher Cal Raleigh on a Notre Dame fly out to nab the runner at the plate and end the inning with the score still tied at 3-3; FSU would win in the 12th inning…hit his first home run of the season (and third of his career) on June 5 against Auburn in the final game of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional that allowed FSU to advance to Super Regionals.


Started 20 games in his sophomore season, while appearing in 51…drew more walks (18) than he had hits (14)…had a multi-RBI game on June 4 in the Tallahassee Regional, going 1-for-3 with his second career home run (his first of the season) to help FSU claim its 7-2 victory against Southern Miss…participated in a summer ball league in 2016 with the Santa Barbara Foresters, where he served primarily as a right handed relief pitcher, during which he threw 9.2 innings with a 0.00 ERA and earned 11 strikeouts in five appearances.

FRESHMAN (2015):

Appeared in 29 games, making two starts in his first season at Florida State…hit .208 (5-for-24) on the year with a double, one home run, seven RBI and six runs scored…first collegiate start came against Jacksonville (Feb. 24) – played right field and went 2-for-3 with two RBI, a double and a run scored…first career hit was a solo home run against Oakland (Feb. 14) on opening weekend…picked up an RBI against Virginia (March 22), Virginia Tech (March 28), Clemson (May 16) and against Florida (June 5) in the NCAA Super Regionals…was perfect from the field in 16 chances…recorded an outfield assist against USF (March 3)…made his collegiate debut on the mound at Miami (April 26) for his lone pitching appearance of the season…worked a scoreless inning in relief against the Hurricanes as he struck out two…played summer ball with the Battle Creek Bombers of the Northwoods League.


Graduated from Key West High School…high school teammate of former FSU teammate Darren Miller…earned Perfect Game 2014 Florida Region honorable mention and 2013 Perfect Game Underclass honorable mention accolades…finished 2014 with a 7-0 record, two saves and only one earned run for a 0.18 ERA…at the plate, hit .461 with a .538 on-base percentage and .765 slugging percentage…had 13 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 25 RBI and 37 runs scored…a four-year varsity starter, was named team Defensive Player of the Year all four seasons and First Team All-County as a freshman and junior…All-State First Team as a senior and the state hits leader with 49…Class 4A ERA leader…made the Key West High A/B Honor Roll his junior year.


Son of Steven and Denise Wells…has three siblings, older sisters Andrea and Lauren and younger brother Jonathan…majoring in social science…born on May 30, 1995.
