Proved to be a multi-faceted player both at the plate and on the mound…recorded 28 at-bats on the season and appeared in 18 games as a pitcher, starting 10 of them…as a pitcher, he led the team in strikeouts (84)…in his 32 games as a hitter, he earned an on-base percentage of .389…ended the season 3-4 as a pitcher with a 2.79 ERA, the lowest of all starting pitchers…earned the first save of his college career when he pitched four shutout innings against Rhode Island on February 20…on May 28, he pitched a career-high seven innings against Miami, while only giving up two runs and striking out a season-high nine batters in an FSU walk-off win, sending the Seminoles into the ACC Championship Game…one of five players to hit a home run in the June 5 18-6 win over South Alabama in the Tallahassee Regional…named a Freshman All-American by Baseball America…played summer ball for the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod League, where he struck out 14 batters over 13 innings and went 3-for-19 with four walks at the plate.
