ON SAXTON: 

A two-year letterwinner who played as a member of Florida State’s 2016 NIT team…graduated from Florida State with a degree in finance on August 6, 2016…played in 14 games over the course of his two-year career including five ACC games and two games in the 2016 ACC Tournament…joined the Seminole men’s basketball team after spending two seasons at Tallahassee Community College…one of three players to move across town from TCC to Florida State under head coach Leonard Hamilton…joins Bernard James (who played for three seasons in the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks) and Joell Hopkins (who transferred to play at Southern University) as players who have recently played at both TCC and FSU…a great teammate…played as a member of the Athletes In Action men’s basketball team that toured Puerto Rico during the spring of 2015…a member of the 10-member team that traveled the country of Puerto Rico to play basketball and perform faith-based activities…in addition to fellowship, playing basketball and sightseeing, the team’s service projects included painting a Christian school, painting and general service projects…a member of the 2015-16 Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) at Florida State…named to the 2015 ACC Academic Honor Roll…

Averaged 1.5 points (11th on the team) and 0.9 rebounds (12th) in 2.7 minutes played per game as he earned playing time in a career-high 11 games…earned action in five ACC games and earned the first start of his career on Senior Day in Florida State’s victory over NCAA Tournament participant Syracuse…enjoyed the honor of being celebrated with the Seminoles’ senior class and started the first game of his career against the Orange…earned playing time in both of Florida State’s game in the ACC Tournament against Boston College and Virginia Tech… earned career-high statistics for games played (11), games started (one), ACC games played (five), ACC games started (one), field goals made (six), field goals attempted (15), 3-point field goals made (four), 3-point field goals attempted (10), 3-point field goal percentage (.400), total points (16), points scored per game (1.5), offensive rebounds (four), defensive rebounds (six), total rebounds (10), rebounds per game (0.9), steals (one), minutes played (30) and minutes played per game (2.7)…Florida State was 9-2 in the games in which he earned playing time as a senior…one of Florida State’s top three-point shooters as he shot .400 percent from the 3-point line during his senior season…made 3-point shots in the Seminoles’ season-opening victory over Nicholls State (Nov. 15), and in Florida State’s victories over Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 13), Mississippi State (Dec. 16), at Wake Forest (Feb. 6), against Notre Dame (Feb. 27) and against Boston College in the opening round of the ACC Tournament (March 8)…made his first career 3-point shot in Florida State’s victory over Nicholls State at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee…earned a career-high of six minutes of playing time in the Seminoles’ victory over Nicholls State…his first career shot made from distance came with 1:05 remaining in the game and gave Florida State a 108-61 lead in its 109-62 win over the Colonels…his first career ACC 3-point field goal helped lead the Seminoles past Wake Forest, 91-71, on the road in conference play…his 3-pointer against the Deacons gave Florida State an 88-70 lead with 1:02 left to play in the Seminoles’ victory…his first career 3-pointer came against No. 20 Notre Dame in the Seminoles’ 77-56 win at home…his career-high of two rebounds came against Nicholls State. Southeastern Louisiana and Syracuse in the regular season finale for both teams…his first career steal also came against the Orange in the game he started on Senior Day…

AS A JUNIOR (2015): 

Averaged 1.3 points (tied for 10th) and 0.3 rebounds (12th) in 1.3 minutes played as he earned playing time in three games…helped the Seminoles to three wins over three teams from the state of Florida – UCF (Dec. 6), North Florida (Dec. 17) and USF (Dec. 20) in the Orange Bowl Classic…totaled four points with two points each coming in victories over UCF and North Florida…shot a perfect two of two (1.000 percent) from the field as he made both of his shot attempts against UCF and North Florida…scored two points as he made his first career shot attempt in the Seminoles’ 96-73 victory over UCF at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee (Dec. 6)…scored the Seminoles’ final basket of the game on a lay-up for his first career basket on his first career shot attempt…earned his season-high of two minutes played in the Seminoles’ victory over the Knights…scored his second career basket on his second career shot attempt in the Seminoles’ victory over North Florida at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee (Dec. 17)…scored the Seminoles’ final basket of the game in Florida State’s 93-77 win over the Ospreys…his basket came with 20 seconds remaining in the game on a jumper and gave Florida State a 93-76 lead…pulled down his first career rebound against North Florida as the Seminoles outrebounded the Ospreys by a 38-28 margin…his rebound came on the final missed shot of the game and he dribbled out the remainder of the clock to give the Seminoles the victory…earned one minute of playing time in the Seminoles’ 75-62 win over USF in the Orange Bowl Classic at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla. (Dec. 20)…inserted in to the game in the final minute with the Seminoles holding a 16-pont lead…

AT TALLAHASSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE: 

Graduated from Tallahassee Community College with an Associates in Arts degree in general business in 2014…played in 17 games in two seasons at TCC where he averaged 1.7 points and 0.6 rebounds…averaged 1.6 points and 0.6 rebounds in 10 games as a sophomore…his career high of nine points came in a 97-70 victory over Gadsden State Community College (Dec. 31, 2013) as he shot four of five from the field (.800 percent) and was a perfect one of one from the free throw line…added four points against the State College of Florida on a perfect two of two field goal shooting (1.000 percent) in the Eagles’ 84-61 win (Dec. 6, 2013)…shot .636 percent from the field and was perfect on his only free throw attempt of the season against the State College of Florida…double figure minutes came in four games including his career high of 21 minutes played in the Eagles’ 97-70 win over Gadsden State…made one of his three attempts from the 3-point line with his first career shot from the bonusphere coming against Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (Nov. 1, 2013)…averaged 1.9 points and 1.7 rebounds in seven games as a freshman…scored his freshman season-high of seven points in his season-high of 18 minutes played against Jefferson Davis Community College (Nov. 22, 2012)…first two points of his career came in 11 minutes of playing time against Daytona State (Nov. 17, 2012)…points came in three consecutive games – two against Daytona State (Nov. 17, 2012), two against Marion Military Institute (Nov. 21. 2012) and his season high of seven against Jefferson Davis…his freshman season was cut short by an injury after he played in only seven games…

AT LAKE HIGHLAND PREP: 

Graduated from Lake Highland Prep in Orlando, Fla., in 2012…a two-year member of the varsity team who played in 38 career games and averaged 3.9 points and 2.8 rebounds for his career…totaled 148 career points and 107 career rebounds…averaged 4.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 31 games in leading Lake Highland to the Class 4A State Championship game in 2012 as a senior…totaled 17 points and five rebounds in Lake Highland’s regional semifinal victory over Jones High School…scored four points and pulled down six rebounds in the Highlanders semifinal victory in the State Championship tournament over Tallahassee’s Godby High School…the Highlanders won that game to advance to the state championship game…scored five points in the Highlanders state championship game loss to Pinecrest…helped lead Lake Highland to district championships during both his junior and senior seasons…played in seven games as a member of the varsity team as a junior…totaled 21 assists and 18 steals in his two varsity seasons…

PERSONAL: 

Born January 6, 1994…Michael is the son of Denise and Brad Saxton…both of his parents attended Florida State…his sister, Amanda, was a member of the volleyball and sand volleyball teams at Florida State from 2009-12…Amanda won the Elite 89 Award at the NCAA Volleyball Championships banquet in 2011 for having the highest cumulative GPA (4.0) of any player on one of the four teams in the championship…Amanda was the Seminoles’ sand volleyball co-captain in 2012…Michael was named to the Panhandle Conference and the FCSSA All-Academic team in 2013… major is finance…
