In his second season as a member of the Florida State basketball team…joined the Seminoles in the fall of 2016…one of the most coachable student-athletes on Florida State’s roster…helped Florida State to a 26-9 overall record, a 12-6 record in ACC play, a second place finish in the ACC standings and a No. 3 seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament during the 2016-17 season…the Seminoles’ 26 wins came within one win of tying the school record for wins in a season while their 12 ACC wins tied the school record for ACC wins in a season…his strengths include his high basketball IQ, his ability to break down defenses with his ball handling and his extremely accurate outside shooting… will add depth and experience at the guard position and help the Seminoles prepare for the rigors of the season…traveled with the Seminoles to Jamaica during the summer of 2017 and gained a great deal of playing experience…is one of three left handed players on the Seminoles’ roster which also features left-handed guards CJ Walker and Anthony Polite…played at very high levels throughout his prep career which has helped him become a very competitive player…awarded the Unsung Hero Award by the Seminole coaching staff at the 2017 Florida State Basketball Honors Banquet.
A redshirt season…practiced and traveled with the team throughout the year…one of the Seminoles’ top practice players who often emulates the opponent’s best shooter in practice…helped Florida State to a 26-9 overall record and a 12-6 record in ACC play…the Seminoles’ 12-6 overall record allowed them to finish in second place in the ACC standings and tied the school record for ACC wins in a single season…the Seminoles were ranked as high a No. 6 nationally during the season.
Averaged 10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 18 games played…shot .420 percent from the field, .430 percent from the 3-pont line, and .730 percent from the free throw line…totaled a season-high 30 points against Victory Rock and 20 points against D.M.E. Academy.
Graduated from Montverde Academy in 2015…was a member of the Eagles’ prep team coached by former North Carolina shooting guard Dante Calabria…totaled a season-high 26 points against Victory Rock.
Attended the school during his sophomore, junior and the first semester of his senior year season…the school is located in Alexandria, Va. …averaged 6.4 points in 24 games as a member of the varsity team as a sophomore in 2013 and averaged 5.2 points in 21 games as a junior in 2014.
Attended Gonzaga College High School in Washington, D.C. as a freshman during the 2010-11 season…was a member of the freshman basketball team during his one season as a member of the Eagles’ program.
Born June 14, 1996…Travis is the son of Sandra and George Light…his father played basketball at Hampden-Sydney in 1986…an older sister, Jordan, played basketball at American University (2014-17)…a member of the academic Honor Roll throughout his high school career…has trained for over 10,000 hours with Reginald Kitchen.
