Finished her redshirt sophomore campaign with the program’s second-highest single-season winning percentage (.952) with a 20-1 overall record … Torruella and Francesca Goncalves’ .941 winning percentage (16-1) is the highest winning percentage the program has ever seen (min. 15 matches played) … Her .841 career winning percentage (37-7) sits at the fourth-highest in program history following her second season … Played with four different partners and earned 11 ranked wins in 2018 … Started off the season with Molly McBain, where the two went 2-0 at the No. 5 position at the Stetson Spring Fling, earning two ranked wins over FAU and South Carolina teams … Played one match with Lauren Anderson, defeating St. Petersburg College’s No. 5 pair at home … Came back into the lineup at FIU’s Surf N Turf Invitational at the end of March and teamed up with Francesca Goncalves … The two went on to record a 16-1 record and played primarily at the No. 5 position, where they earned 10 wins in a row … The pair earned their only loss of the season against LSU in Baton Rouge, but Torruella earned a win at the No. 4 position earlier in the day against Jacksonville State while playing with freshman Alaina Chacon … Torruella/Goncalves went 6-0 in Emerson, Ga. as the team won its third straight CCSA Championship, and avenged their loss to LSU’s Young/Ligon by beating them twice in the tournament … The pair earned the AVCA’s Top Flight award for the No. 5 position in recognition of their 16-1 record.
Began the season at the No. 5 position with Katie Horton for the Stetson Spring Break Invitational…the pair went 2-1 together on the year beating Stetson in DeLand and Long Beach State during the East Meets West Invitational (21-13, 20-22, 15-3) … finished off the season partnering with Hailey Luke going 15-4 as the No. 5 pair…the duo began their paring on an eight match win streak including wins over FIU, UCLA, Arizona State, TCU, FAU, South Carolina and Pepperdine… Torruella and Luke posted a 10-4 record against ranked teams…during the CCSA championship Torruella/Luke went 5-1 including the first Seminole point during the conference championship against FIU (21-12, 21-6)…Torruella played with Luke at the No. 5 position during the NCAA Championship going 1-1 and defeating Hawaii’s Amy Ozee/Hannah Zalopany in the first match.
Took a redshirt season as she did not compete during the 2016 beach volleyball season.
Member of the Puerto Rico National Team (2013-15) … placed 12th at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada … placed fifth at the NORCECA Tournaments in Saint Lucia, Cayman Islands and Dominican Republic.
Played at Saint Johns School and was named a PRHA All-Star for four years (2012-15) … also played tennis at Saint Johns … earned Most Improved accolades in 2012 and MVP honors in 2013 … was an Honor Roll student … won gold at the 2011 Beach Volleyball AAU Junior Olympics and finished third in 2013 … named MVP of the AAU Junior Nationals in 2010 … a three-time All-American (2011, 2012, 2013) at the AAU Junior Nationals in Orlando.
