2012: Led the Seminoles to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Championship meet – the second-best in school history – after placing 21st (29:47.7, 10k) to earn USTFCCCA All-American honors for the first time…captured the NCAA South Region title on his home course (30:23.8, 10k), edging teammate Breandan O Neill as the Seminoles won in a landslide…earned All-ACC honors for his 13th-place finish at the conference championship meet (24:14.7, 8k), where the `Noles were third…established a new 8k cross country personal-best when he finished 10th at Louisville Pre-Nationals (23:29.2)…signaled arrival on national stage with fourth-place finish at Notre Dame Invitational (23:39.3, 8k). 2011: Was a fixture in the lineup throughout the season as the Seminoles advanced to the NCAA Championship meet and finished 12th…placed 138th as FSU’s No. 4 runner on the rolling LaVern Gibson course at Indiana State…helped FSU wrap up its first NCAA South Regional team title by placing 15th – good for All-Region honors – in Tuscaloosa, Ala. (31:42.0) as team’s No. 4 runner. 2010:Enjoyed banner freshman season for the Seminoles, who capped the year with a program-best, runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship meet…placed 118th at NCAA Championship meet as FSU’s No. 6 runner…earned ACC Rookie of the Year and All-ACC honors by placing 11th overall (24:07.6) at the conference championship meet, where the Seminoles claimed their first team title at Boston’s Franklin Park.
2013: Outdoor – missed the entire season with an injury. Indoor – competed in just two events, placing second at the ACC Indoor Championships over 3000m in a personal-best 8:04.61…opened season at UW Husky Classic by placing 11th in 3000 (8:08.81). 2012: Outdoor – used a late-season surge to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary in the 1500 on the strength of a personal-best 3:44.65 at the Virginia Challenge…placed sixth in the finals of the 1500 at the ACC Outdoor Championships (3:48.14). Indoor – did not compete. 2011: Outdoor – ran a limited schedule as a freshman…highlights included contributing to a fifth-place finish in the four-mile relay at Penn Relays…placed ninth at the ACC Outdoor Championships in the 1500 (3:52.10)…turned in a personal-best 5000m (14:17.97) at the Stanford Invitational. Indoor – scored his first ACC points with a seventh-place finish in the mile (4:09.49) at the conference championship meet…also competed in the 3000m (8:21.07) in his freshman season debut at the Razorback Invitational.
Born and raised in the Czech Republic, where he enjoyed great success both nationally and internationally…won 13 Czech Republic national titles between indoor and outdoor track & field and cross country…was second in the 5000 at the 2009 European Junior Championships in Serbia…won 1500 and was second in 800 at 2009 European Team Junior Championships in Moscow…finished 12th in 3000m at the 2007 World Youth Championships…was fourth in the 3000 at the 2007 European Youth Olympic Festival…competed as a high school senior in the fall of 2008 in Grand Rapids, Michigan…won 2008 Foot Locker Midwest Region and Nike XC Heartland Regional meets…earned first-team All-American honors with fifth-place finish at Foot Locker Nationals…was runner-up at the Nike XC Nationals in 2008 as well…outstanding student at FSU where he is finishing his degree in Finance…earned 2012 ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors in cross country…a five-time All-ACC Academic selection between cross country and track…earned Capital One Academic All-Region honors in 2012…nickname is “Kuba”…born Nov. 23, 1990.
