Talented graduate student who transferred from Southern Utah…helped Southern Utah to a pair of NCAA Cross Country Championship appearances…expected to provide a boost over the longer distances, indoors and outdoors…native of St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada.

2016 Cross Country:

Enjoyed an outstanding start to his first season with the Seminoles, placing seventh at the adidas XC Challenge (18:16.5, 6k) and fourth at the FSU Invitational (25:24.4, 8k) helping the team to a pair of titles…a late-season injury, however, cut short that early success.

Before FSU:

A three-year standout at Southern Utah University in both cross country and track…coming off his finest year in 2015-16…earned 2015 All-Big Sky (10th place) and All-Mountain Region (22nd) cross country honors as the Thunderbirds advanced to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year…the 2014-2015 NCAA appearances were the first by SUU since 1979…followed up on the track with a pair of personal-bests (14:13.74/5000m; 29:52.66/10,000m)…graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in accounting…on the Dean’s List all eight semesters at SUU…earned USTFCCCA All-Academic cross country honors.

Personal:

Established himself as one of the finest distance runners in Canada while attending St. Francis Secondary…2011 Ontario junior cross country champion…claimed three consecutive Southern Ontario Secondary Schools Association (SOSSA) 3000-meter titles…represented Canada at the 2012 IAAF World Junior Championships in the 10,000m…brother Mohamed Ahmed was a 5000-meter finalist representing Canada at the 2016 Olympic Games…is pursuing master’s degree in accounting at FSU…born June 6, 1993.
