PERFORMANCE PROFILE

Begins his third cross country season of competition on the heels of his strongest block of off-season training…looking to build on and extend the strong start he made during the 2017 season…aerobically strong, he could well be a part of FSU’s scoring mix with continued development.

2017-18

Cross Country: Season began on a high note with a ninth-place finish at the Covered Bridge Open…followed with a 16th-place finish at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational…finished 11th at the FSU Invitational…was in the lineup for the Joe Piane Notre Dame and Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitationals. Indoor: Competed in only one meet, running 14:59.52 for 5000m at the Hemery Valentine Invitational. Outdoor: Saw action in five meets; four times competing in the 5000…season-best 15:08.53 came in opener at Yellow Jacket Invitational…lone 10,000 of the season at Raleigh Relays produced 30:53.53 performance.

2016-17

Cross Country: Competed in six meets as a redshirt freshman, challenging for a spot in the top seven throughout…highlights included a strong 6k (19:01.9) at the adidas XC Challenge to finish 40th…was 12th overall at the FSU Invitational…also competed at Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational…finished season at ACC Championships, where he was seventh on the team and 79th overall with a huge 8k PB (25:05.4)…alternate on NCAA South Region team. Indoors: First and only career indoor race produced a runner-up 5000 finish (15:09.38) at the Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational. Outdoors: Lowered his 5000 PB (14:48.44) at FSU Relays in his second meet…victorious in his 10,000 debut at Tennessee Relays (30:40.68)…was 18th in 10,000 at ACC Championships.

2015-16

Cross Country: Sat out the season as a redshirt, but flashed future promise with an 11th-place finish while competing unattached at the FSU Invitational in his first career 8k race (25:55.8). Indoor & Outdoor: sat out both seasons as a redshirt.

Personal:

Enjoyed outstanding high school senior season…placed eighth at the 3A FHSAA State Cross Country Championships, leading Chiles to the team title…followed up with a fourth-place finish in the 3200 at the 3A FHSAA State Track & Field Championships as the Timberwolves won their second consecutive title…ranked No. 2 all-time at Chiles at time of graduation in the 3200 (9:23.87), set at the 2015 FSU Relays…competed three cross country and four track & field seasons…outstanding student who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Chiles…voted areas Best & Brightest for Athletics…AP (Advanced Placement) Scholar with Distinction…earned his Eagle Scout…served as Boys State Chief Justice of the Supreme Court…the son of Tony and Renee Murray…majoring in biochemistry…born October 21, 1996.
