Q&A’s with Dominika Gradecka

On Gradecka:

A junior who is in her third season as a member of the Florida State women’s golf team…has played in four events during the first two years of her Seminole career…after playing in four matches as a freshman, she did not play in any events as a sophomore as she took a redshirt year from competition…practiced with the team throughout the 2016-17 fall and spring seasons…best career performance came at the Jacksonville Classic during the spring of 2015 as she set personal standards for a single round score (72), a 36-hole score (148), a three round tournament score (225) and earned the best finish of her career (tied for 28th)…has been a member of the Polish National Golf team since 2009…played for Poland in the 2014 Women’s World Amateur Team Championships and the 2016 European Ladies Amateur Team Championships…played against current Seminoles Matilda Castren (Finland) as well as Kim and Morgane Metraux (Switzerland) in both team championships…helped Poland to a tied for 36th place finish in the team standings in a field of 50 teams…helped Poland improve its team standing by 11 positions in the team standings as compared to 2012…won both of her match play events to help Poland defeat Slovakia and Wales while playing in the European Girls Ream Championships…earned her way on the national team for the World Championships as the winner of the 2014 Citi Handowy Polish International Junior Championships…finished in third place at the 2016 Polish Ladies Championship…named to the 2016 and 2017 ACC Academic Honor Roll…named tto the Academic Presdient’s Liste at Florida State (4.0) in the spring of 2016 and to the Academic Dean’s List in the spring of 2017…averages 77.73 strokes in 11 rounds during four tournaments entering her junior season in the fall of 2017.

Fall 2015:

Earned playing time for the first time as a Seminole at the Jacksonville Classic…played as an individual and finished in a tie for 28thplace in the individual standings…finished third among the eight individuals in the event…was in a tie for 25th after the first two rounds of play with a second round score of 72…Florida State won the team championship at the event…averaged a career-low 75.00 strokes in three rounds during one tournament.

Spring 2016:

Played in a career-high three matches as she helped the Seminoles to their school record 11th consecutive NCAA Championships appearance…played in three events – the Florida Challenge, Florida State Match-Up and Gator Women’s Invitational – as an individual competitor in all three events…played her best golf of the spring season at the Gator Invitational as she carded a three round tournament score of 226…her three best single round scores of the season came at the Gator as she carded totals of 75-74-77…best career first round score (750) came at the Gator Women’s Invitational…tied her career best for her top third round score (77) also in the Gator Women’s Invitational…averaged 78.75 strokes in eight rounds during three tournaments.

Summer 2016:

Finished in third place at the 2016 Polish Ladies Championship at the Modry Las Golf Club…scores of 75-79-75 for a total of 229…finished only five strokes out of the individual lead…played for Poland in the European Ladies Amateur Team Championships…helped lead Poland to a 1-2 record in Flight C match play.

2016 World Championships:

Finished in 148th place in the individual standings and helped Poland to a 48th place finish in team standings at the 2016 World Amateur Team Championships in Riviera Maya, Mexico…carded scores of 85-86-88-82 for a four-round total of 341.

Before Florida State:

Graduated from High School No. 10 in Wroclaw in 2015…participated in the sport of handball for her high school…led her school to a second place finish in the city of Wroclaw and a third place finish in the province of Dolny Slask… won the Junior Spanish Open in 2015…claimed medalist honors at the 2014 Veritas World Junior Championship at the Tustin Ranch Golf Club in Tustin, Cal…finished third at the 2014 International Polish Junior Match-Play Championship with a strong finish on the 17th and 18th holes in her semifinal round match…lost to Dominika Czudkova of East Tennessee State University in the semifinals – Czudkova went onto win the championship in the event…Gradecka claimed medalist honors at the Polish Junior Open Championship in 2014…won all four of her match play contest to be crowned the Polish Junior Champion…earned a first place finish at the BMW Junior Tour event sponsored by the Polish Golf Association in 2014…finished second at the Polish Ladies Amateur Open in 2013…finished as the top player from Poland in the event…finished third at the 2103 Polish Junior Open.

Personal:

Born Sept, 5, 1996…Dominika is the daughter of Marzena Gradecka and Krzysztof Gradecki…a very athletic and active athlete who has also excelled in basketball, tennis, volleyball and handball…has two brothers and one sister… a brother, Mateusz, is a senior on the men’s golf team at East Tennessee State…her sister, Karolina, is a team captain for one of the top soccer team in Poland (AZS Wroclaw)…hails from Wroclaw, Poland – the largest city in western Poland…the city is located roughly 220 miles from the Baltic Sea…major is management (business).
