A three-year letterwinner who was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams…helped the Seminoles reach NCAA play in 2009, 2010 and 2011 while playing in 11 events during her career…helped lead Florida State into the 2009 NCAA Tournament for the first time in her career as a freshman as she played in the starting line-up in a career-high eight of 10 events…earned her only career top 25 finish at the ACC Championship during the spring of 2009 as she finished in a tie for 25th place in the individual standings…was in a tie for first place in the individual standings after the first two rounds of the Lady Gator Invitational during the spring of 2009…played well throughout her freshman season with her low single round score (70) and her low 36-hole score (144) coming in the Lady Gator Invitational, her low tournament score (229) coming in the UCF Challenge and her best finish coming at the ACC Championship…a tall golfer who strikes the ball well and is known for her long shots…a very successful golfer who has been a winner at every level she has played on…one of the top junior golfers in the state who was a regular on the junior circuit beginning at age 12…named to the 2012 ACC Academic Honor Roll…averaged 80.29 strokes in 31 rounds during 11 tournaments during her three year career as a Seminole.
A member of Florida State’s starting line-up for two of the three events the Seminoles played in during the season…after not qualifying for the season-opening Cougar Classic, she earned her way into the line-up for the Tar Heel Invitational and the Auburn Tiger Derby…averaged 82.00 strokes in six rounds during two tournaments in her first semester on campus.
Played in six of the Seminoles’ seven tournaments as a member of the Seminoles’ starting line-up including the first ACC Championship and the first NCAA Regional of her career…carded career best scores of a single round (70 in the second round of the Lady Gator Invitational), 36 holes (144 at the Gator Invitational), tournament score (229 at the UCF Challenge) and for individual finish (tied for 25th at the ACC Championship)…career best single round score (70) came in the second round of the Lady Gator Invitational and vaulted her into a tie for first place in the individual standings after the first 36 holes…played her best golf late in the second round of the Gator Invitational as she was two-under par over her final six holes…she was plus two over her first nine holes and minus two with three birdies over her last nine holes as she finished with an even par score of 70…was never more than three strokes over par and was even for the final three holes of her round…played well in the final round of her spring tournaments as she shot scores in the 70’s in five of her six final rounds including a 74 in the third round of the NCAA East Regional Championship…back to back top-30 finishes for the first time in her career at the Lady Gator Invitational (tied for 29th) and at the ACC Championship (tied for 25th)…averaged 78.69 strokes in 16 rounds during six events.
Played in two of the Seminoles’ four events as a member of the starting line-up…averaged 83.83 strokes in six rounds during two tournaments.
Played in one event – the Kinderlou Forest Challenge – as an individual and enjoyed the best outing of her junior season…her season best score of 76 came in the first round of the event…also earned the third best finish of her career – tied for 39th – as she carded scores in the 70’s in the first two rounds of the tournament…her three round total of 235 at Kinderlou ranks as the third best three round tournament score of her career…averaged a career low 78.33 strokes in three rounds during one tournament.
Graduated from East Lake High School in 2008…ranked 74th on the list of the nation’s top college signees in 2008…the top golfer on her high school team with an average single round score of 40.00 strokes during her senior season…attended Northside Christian High school before transferring to East Lake as a junior…helped lead Northside to the Class A state championship as a freshman in 2005…led the Mustangs to a fourth place finish in the state championship tournament in 2005…the most valuable player on her golf team in each of her four years (three years at Northside and one year at East Lake)…earned all-county honors during each of her four seasons as a high school golfer…led each of her teams to district championships during each of her four years playing varsity golf…won the AJGA event in Lubbock, Texas during the summer of 2006.
Born Sept. 21, 1990…Whitney is the daughter of Pamela and Charles Wenglasz…her family is very important to her…her hobbies are swimming, crafts, cooking, kayaking and hiking…a member of the National Honor Society and named to the Dean’s List in each of her four years of high school…earned her undergraduate degree in chemical science in April of 2012.
