Clemson Wins 10th Straight, 76-70 over FSU

Greg Buckner scored 21 points as fifth-ranked Clemson won its
10th straight game, defeating Florida State, 76-70, in an
Atlantic Coast Conference contest.

Terrell McIntyre added 13 points for the Tigers (14-1, 3-0 ACC),
who last won 11 consecutive games at the outset of the 1995-96
season and are off to their best ACC start since going 4-0 to
start the 1986-87 campaign.

James Collins scored 23 points and Corey Louis added 18 for
Florida State (9-3, 1-3), which lost to Clemson at Leon County
Civic Center for the first time in six all-time meetings.

The Tigers led, 38-32, with 18:10 remaining when the Seminoles
went on an 8-2 run, tying the game for the final time at 40-40
after LaMarr Greer converted a three-point play with 16:38 left.

But Tom Wideman scored four of his 10 points in a 6-0 spurt to
give the Tigers a 46-40 lead with 13:05 left. Wideman added
nine rebounds.

The Seminoles closed to within 51-48 on a Randell Jackson dunk
with 8:35 left, but McIntyre hit a three-pointer to ignite a 9-3
Tigers’ run and help Clemson to its largest lead, 60-51, with
5:19 left.

Florida State had taken its last lead at 25-23 with 3:12 left in
the first half after Kerry Thompson’s jumper, but Tony Christie
scored four points in a 10-2 Clemson run that closed the half
and gave the Tigers a 33-27 lead.

Christie had 10 points off the bench for the Tigers.

Florida State shot 50 percent (26-for-52) from the field, but
committed 17 turnovers and made only 55 percent (12-for-22) from
the free-throw line.
