CLEMSON, SC — Florida State sophomore Ross Brannon and senior Dexter
Jackson have been recognized by the Atlantic Coast Sportswriters
Association for their efforts in Florida State’s 45-14 victory over
Virginia last Saturday.
Brannon, a 1997 Sporting News Freshman All-American, was selected the ACC
Offensive Lineman of the Week after he was key in the FSU line as the
Seminoles rushed for a season-high 196 yards vs. the Cavaliers. The
Marietta, Georgia, native played every offensive snap and did not allow a
quarterback pressure. He was credited with five cut blocks and six
intimidations while grading out at 90 percent as the Seminoles scored five
Jackson, who was chosen the league’s top Defensive Back of the Week,
intercepted two passes as the Seminole defense held Virginia to 96 yards
passing. He was credited with nine tackles, six of them solo and he also
contributed a tackle for loss. Both of the Quincy, Florida senior’s
interceptions led to FSU touchdowns.
