TALLAHASSEE, Fl. — A number of Florida State football players, including Daryl Bush Kevin Long, Shevin Smith and Andre Wadsworth, are giving up their last few days of summer to participate in the first Seminole Leadership Institute sponsored by the Office of Student Development in the Florida State University Department of Athletics.
The three-day Institute, which began on Sunday, designed for FSU student-athletes to learn from experts in the field of leadership who have experienced success in their professional endeavors.
Featured speakers include: Dr. Joseph Carnley of the Dale Carnegie Institute, U.S. Navy Captain Donnie Cochran, Dr. Janet Lenz, Associate Director of the FSU Career Center, Walt Shuler of Doral Ryder Open and Dr. Joe Camps, Chairman of the Seminole Boosters.
The Institute serves as another opportunity for student-athletes to develop their greatest potential in every aspect of life as they participate in FSU’s academic and athletics porgrams.
“The program is geared towards making you as productive and prepared as possible for both academics and in your search for a career,” said Bush, who was an Academic All-American last year. “Time management and public speaking skills are both areas that any student, but especially an athlete, needs as much information on as possible.”
Eventually, FSU student-athletes from all sports will be included in frequent Institutes throughout the year.
