TALLAHASSEE, FL — The No. 5 Florida State Seminoles held their first
practice since arriving back in town from Los Angeles for 12 periods in
shorts.

The team broke off into position segments and worked on some fundamentals
and agility drills, then the offensive and defensive units ran plays
against the respective scout teams.

“It was a typical Monday workout,” said Coach Bobby Bowden. “We went out
in shorts.”

Linebacker Demetro Stephens returned to practice after spending the
offseason rehabilitating his left knee. Stephens tore ligaments in his
knee during the Sugar Bowl. He is expected to return to active duty
towards the middle of the season.

Also returning to full speed was wide receiver Marvin Minnis, who
sustained a sprained ankle a week ago.

Andre Wadsworth, Kevin Long and Daryl Bush missed practice due to
scheduled classes. Defensive end Greg Spires also was held out while his
left fibula heels and is expected to return to regular practice in the next
couple of weeks.

No new injuries were reported following practice.
