TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida State’s Bobby Rhodes and Sebastian Janikowksi
earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors from a panel of
sportswriters from around the league. Rhodes earned defensive line honors,
while Janikowski was named rookie of the week.

Rhodes, a middle linebacker from Eustis, Fla., made his first career
start in place of the injured Daryl Bush as FSU held Maryland to 105 yards
total offense and just 48 yards rushing. Rhodes tallied a career-high 10
tackles, including six solo stops, and recorded two tackles for loss and
three knock ’em backs for the nation’s No. 1 defense. He also shared
Tomahawk Player of the Game honors with Samari Rolle from the defensive
coaches.

Janikowski, a freshman kicker from Daytona Beach, Fla., booted two field
goals of over 40 yards in as many attempts to help lead the Seminoles to a
50-7 win over Maryland. Janikowski kicked a 44 and a 49-yarder against the
Terps and boomed nine of 10 kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks. His
49-yard field goal already tied former FSU placekicker Scott Bentley’s
career-long field goal.
