Florida State’s Whitaker and Polley Earn ACC Player of the Week Honors

CLEMSON, SC — Florida State redshirt sophomore offensive guard Jason Whitaker and redshirt freshman linebacker Tommy Polley received ACC Player of the Week honors following FSU’s 51-27 victory over Duke in Durham.

Whitaker, a native of Panama City, FL, was named Offensive Lineman of the Week after the No. 3 Seminoles racked up 417 yards of total offense. He was graded out above 85 percent with eight intimidations and three cut blocks. Whitaker was perfect in pass protection, allowing no sacks and made key blocks in FSU’s four rushing scores.

Baltimore, MD, resident Polley earned ACC Rookie of the Week after he blocked Blue Devil punt which was recovered by Derrick Gibson in the endzone for a touchdown. Defensively, he had a total of six tackles, a quarterback sack, four intimidations and four knock ’em backs. He also had a tackle inside the 20-yard line on a kickoff.
