Minor and Cowart Earn ACC Player of the Week Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State’s Travis Minor and Sam Cowart earned
Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors by a vote of the
league’s sportswriters for their performances in last week’s Virginia game.

Freshman tailback Travis Minor rushed for 159 yards on 17 carries, caught
six passes for 68 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Seminoles
defeated Virginia, 47-21. In his first collegiate start, Minor ran for an
87-yard touchdown on the first play of the game against the Cavaliers. The
native of Baton Rouge, La., also scored on a six-yard run and 42-yard

Senior outside linebacker Sam Cowart tallied a team-high 14 tackles,
including eight solo stops, as FSU held Virginia to (-9) rushing yards.
Cowart, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., was also credited with two sacks,
one quarterback pressure, an intimidation, a knock ’em back and 2 1/2
third-down stops.
