Seminoles Hold Final Practice Before North Carolina Game

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The No. 2 Florida State Seminoles held their final
practice in preparation for Saturday’s ACC showdown with No. 5 North
Carolina. The Seminoles practiced for 15 periods in shorts at Doak
Campbell Stadium.

“We have had a good week of preparation,” said head coach Bobby Bowden.
“We concentrated on correcting our mistakes on special teams; the blocked
punts, the bad snaps, the missed extra points. ”

Coach Bowden also announced that the North Carolina game will be a sod
game. The seniors voted for it based upon it being a big ACC game and the
fact that some publications have Florida State as underdogs. The last sod
game for Florida State was last year’s 34-16 victory over Miami in the
Orange Bowl. Being dubbed the biggest game in ACC history, this match-up
will give the winner the inside track to the national championship game in
the Orange Bowl.

“The winner of this game has the chance to play for the national
championship,” stated Bowden. “I am not saying that they will, but they
have the chance.”

INJURY REPORT: Greg Spires, Larry Smith and Corey Simon are all
listed as probable with neck burners. Ross Brannon will return to action
after missing last week with a right ankle sprain.
