FSU Golfer George Mcneill Wins Tournament, Team Finishes Tied for Fourth

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Senior George McNeill shot a final round 66 to win the
individual championship at the Tennessee Tournament of Champions. McNeill,
a native of N. Fort Myers, finished the tournament with a three-round total
of 207, one stroke better than Chad Wellhausen of Mississippi State and Tim
Clark of North Carolina State. This was McNeill’s first tournament victory
at Florida State. McNeill’s previous best was a second place finish at the
ACC Championships in 1996.

The Seminoles finished tied for fourth with a team score of 859 with
North Carolina State. The Tribe used a final-round low total of 282, to
finish three strokes behind South Carolina and seven strokes behind winner
Mississippi State University.

Jason Pool, a senior from Great Falls, VA, posted a two-day total of 217
to place tied for 17th with three other golfers. Sophomore Nathan Bertsch
carded a final-round 71 to tie him for 21st. Barry Dyche and Mark Monroe
rounded out the scoring for the Seminoles, finishing tied for 24th and
40th, respectively.

The Seminoles will have a weekend off before traveling to the Kroger
Intercollegiate in Memphis, TN.
