Florida State Swimming and Diving Complete Day Two at Georgia Invitational

Athens, GA– The Florida State Swimming and Diving teams completed their
second day of competiton tonight at the Georgia Invitational in Athens,
Georgia. Both teams remain in 4th place with the men scoring 362 points and
the women scoring 295 points.

In men’s competition, Stephen Parry finished 4th in the 100 Fly in an
NCAA Consideration time of 48.85 and 9th in the 200 Free in an NCAA
Consideration time of 1:38.85. Matt McVittie finished 11th in the same
event. Freshman Keam Ang finished 6th in the 100 Fly and Freshman Greg
Main-Baillie finished 7th in the 100 Back. Divers Brent Burkman ( 494.85)
and Glen Gonzales (477.45) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively wwith NCAA
Zonal Qualifying scores.

In women’s action, Freshman Kristen Adams finished 5th in the 200 Free,
Junior Sherri Fowler finished 7th in the 400 IM, and Sophomore Anne
Blachford finished 9th in the 100 Breast. Senior Sarah Henderson led the
divers finishing 3rd in an NCAA Zonal Qualifying Score of 442.65 with Marya
Sabesky and Kirsti Carrihill finishing 4th and 5th.

In late results from Friday night, the men’s and women’s teams were both
4th, the men with 153 points and the women with 139 points.The men were led
by Junior Brendon Dedekind, with a win in the 50 freestyle in an NCAA
Consideration time of 20.08, and Parry finishing 4th in the 200 IM.

The
men’s diving squad made an impressuve showing with Burkman finishing 3rd in
an NCAA Zoanl Qualifying score of 482.05; Gonzales and Ben Nuttall
finished 4th adn 5th respectively. From the women’s side, Blachford was the
leader with a 9th place finish in the 50 Free. Divers Sabesky, Henderson,
and Carrihill finished 3rd, 4th, and 5th respectively.
Competition concludes tomorrow with the preliminaries at 9:30am and the
finals at 3pm.
