TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State men’s tennis team improved their dual
match record to 3-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory over Old Dominion
Saturday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
The Seminoles swept doubles winning all three matches. At No. 1 doubles
Ty Braswell and Yvo Niks upended Patrick Boza and Hieronymus Rodriguez 8-2.
The No. 2 team of Alex Golub and Davidson Kozlowski defeated Johan
Varverud and Niclas Kohler 8-6. Michael Ingham and Jay Travis defeated
Alexandre Cancado and Nikola Laca 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, the Seminoles won five of the six matches. The lone
loss on the day came at No.1 singles where Braswell fell to Varverud 6-3,
6-2. Winners for the day at singles play for the Noles were No. 3 Niks
over Cancado 6-4, 6-3; No. 4 Ingham beat Boza 6-1, 7-5; No. 5 Golub
defeated Kohler 0-6, 6-3, 7-5; No. 6 Steve Weinstein over Rodriguez 7-6,
6-2; No. 7 Travis over Laender 6-3, 6-2.
The men’s tennis team will play again on February 7. The two matches
will be at home against Georgia State at 9:30 a.m. and Georgia Southern at
FSU 6 – ODU 1
